What is This?

How do you fit the world into 1,000 words or fewer? In this four-week online course, you'll explore the genre of flash fiction and write your own compact masterpieces. Topics include crafting compelling stories, flash strategies, best practices in workshopping and revision, and opportunities for further reading and potential publication.

How Will This Work?

We’ll read and discuss an array of published flash fiction, and each week you’ll write from prompts or your own imagination to create your own tiny, new worlds.The workshop is completely asynchronous so you don’t have to be in any online place at any online time. We will use the Canvas learning management system, which is pretty simple and easy to figure out.

Who is Tara Campbell?

Tara Campbell (www.taracampbell.com) is a writer, teacher, Kimbilio Fellow, and fiction editor at Barrelhouse. Prior publication credits include SmokeLong Quarterly, Masters Review, Jellyfish Review, Booth, and Strange Horizons. She's the author of a novel,TreeVolution, a hybrid fiction/poetry collection,Circe's Bicycle, and a short story collection,Midnight at the Organporium. She received her MFA from American University in 2019
